Raised by a narcissist mom myself. We only know what our own “normal” is if that makes sense. Took me until age 38 to realize my own mom was the issue. And still at age 44, I “automatically” find myself playing into the script of looking past or defending. It’s nude to unlearn. I’d really press for you to talk to him. It’s not making him choose, imo, It’s stating your feelings and boundaries and he would then need to decide what his feelings and boundaries are. Or couples counseling about this issue? Thanks for the detailed info. Have you ever spoken to a medical doctor about this? This sounds like it may partly be connected to some form of autism, though I am not trying to diagnose. You might consider getting evaluated by a physician rather than a therapist. I have misophonia as well but this sounds entirely different to me because it is not just physical, you have a deep-seated emotional aversion as well that is a cause rather than a reaction, like misophonia is.
