He can also come around once out of the environment & somewhere he feels safe. It'll take work but also time, but removing him from that prison that triggers his fear, anxiety, and trauma will be a major step towards his healing.

Maybe suggest a domestic partnership contract instead of a marriage. If the plan is that you'll be together for life you'll at least need to nail down things like medical next of kin, inheritance rights, etc. A proper DP document costs more than a marriage license but with that you'll have the mutual protections of marriage without having to call yourselves “married”. This is pretty important because without it your respective parents (or siblings if your parents are dead) would get to decide on your course of medical care should one of you become incapacitated. This would also guarantee that if one of you dies suddenly the other would get the whole house (instead of having to negotiate with parents/siblings whom w/o a DP doc would inherit the deceased partner's share).

Well I called the police stations in my city and every single one is closed Friday, Saturday and Sunday so I have to make the report online. My partner is the person I want to do it with but this is stressful as all fucking hell and I am struggling but so is he and I just don’t understand why they are closed??
