Her opinion matters because she's his partner. Her opinion matters because if, for example, she considers this a dealbreaker then he needs to make a decision based on that opinion. So clearly it does (or at least can matter).
It's his decision, but claiming how your partner feels “doesn't matter” is not a path to a healthy relationship.
I wish this sub would stop confusing bodily autonomy with this twisted idea that your partner's feelings don't matter at all. You can choose to gain 300 lbs in a relationship, but your partner might have an opinion on that. That opinion matters because it affects your decisions. “Her opinion matters” doesn't mean she gets to make the decision or in ANY WAY take away his bodily autonomy.
If it feels wrong then choose someone else. I don’t want to dupe your marriage but open relationships tend to get messy and often lead to divorce, but I hope things work out. Although I don’t think a close friend is someone you should go after bc that can easily led to a full on emotional affair which will tear your family apart. And if your wife does find out about this then it’s gonna hurt her a lot bc that means you’ve had this attraction to your friend all this time which may question your love for her, especially since she opened the marriage and the first person you jump on is your friend, without hesitation.
