Are you in a position to help your mother get away from him, and have a safe space until a divorce could go through. If you are, I would get her someplace away from him and let her know that if she needs to escape, if she needs a safe place, she has one and doesn't have to feel trapped. Tell her everything he's done and said, tell her how you're concerned about this kind of alienating, abusive and controlling behavior, and tell her that while you won't dictate her choices, he's forcing you to leave, and you would feel safer if she left with you. If she's not ready, don't push- just let her know you will be there for her if she ever changes her mind.
