If she stopped the SSRI because she was doing well, and now is doing really poorly, then has she tried going back on the SSRI? Yeah it’s not a great solution to feel like you now permanently need to be on a medicine, but it sounds better than her current situation.
If she wasn’t doing well when she stopped the SSRI, then I don’t see how you could differentiate between worse (and now untreated) depression or the syndrome you’re describing. Depression can cause severe symptoms like depersonalization and psychosis, so what you’re describing is not out of the realm of possibility.
If PSSD has no known treatments or cure, then I would get help from a doctor or psychiatrist. Sounds like you both don’t trust them very much. But if you’re out of options, see what advice they have and try it, just in case it could help her feel better.
But what about the knee, is he better now? Can he walk normally?
If he can… then he has no excuse. He basically got comfortable not doing anything around the house because he’s depressed and he figures that you’ll do it for him anyway.
There’s no fix for this. There’s no talking sense into him. Stories like yours are a dime a dozen on this sub, every day.
You need to break up with him and go no contact, forever. There’s a chance he might wake up from his stupor and begin to make an effort in his life, but don’t ever return to him. He’d just return to his old habits.
