The sushi! Why did she specifically take you out for sushi when she knew about the surprise sushi party? I would be all sushi'd out. It's like buying someone a big ice cream sundae when you know their friends splurged on a surprise ice cream cake that afternoon. It's undermining.
The 'mysterious illnesses' she has whenever you're going to hangout with someone makes it hard to view the sushi as an isolated incident. Why is there always something horribly wrong that demands your immediate attention when you're going to meet up with someone? Why does a bad test outweigh a final farewell? Why would her awful parents be a reason you owe it to her to throw away important people in your life like trash? These are all excuses to isolate you and is textbook abusive behavior.
Seeing some people here taking the friends' negative reactions towards seeing someone they care about being isolated and controlled as an excuse for that abusive behavior is absolutely disgusting.
