He's a dick and using his training to manipulate and control you. It's only going to get worse. He's probably helped you inadvertently but that is far outweighed by his dickishness.
My exes undoubtedly have photos of me. They also have letters and emails and the like. I don't need them to erase our history together, and luckily, none of it except some of the letters are what I'd consider private or intimate in nature. I'd probably delete the intimate things. But the rest- is part of their history too, and I wouldn't destroy my own history to suit someone else. Especially with out a specific request.
I know u might not want to cause waves or confrontation OP but u need to do this. Talk to your boss so they can both see the gravity of it. Also explain that you have an abusive ex so they are aware of it. So this doesn't actually happen for real because no one knows you could be in danger.

Have you watched him shower? Is he actually cleaning himself with soap? Is he washing his towels frequently?
I remember a post like this and it turned out the guy never washed his towel or even rinsed his toothbrush after using ir. Once they fixed those two things, the smell went away.
