What you never ever do is pressure someone to marry. You seem to be just romanticizing engagements and weddings-the ring, dress, titles, etc. All the exciting fun parts. Reality is about sharing life goals, finances, careers, living locations, family planning, relatives, etc.
How did you resolve your “rough patch”. How compatible are you. Have you talked together about where you see yourselves in a year, in five years? Right now it doesn't seem that you're both on the same page. But time is on your side; have those serious conversations about the future.
