Yikes. If you're dead set on not breaking up with him, you're going to have to address this at some point soon. Your feelings are valid and as your partner he should want to help you process them and give you reassurance, not pressure you into ignoring them.
That being said, if your friends ALL dislike him and think you should break up, that means he's probably exhibiting other red flags as well.
