People are allowed to have friends and sometimes those friends are exes. Normal secure people know this, are fine with it, and have such friends themselves. I will never understand why reddit thinks being friends with exes is some kind of red flag. I’d be more concerned if they weren’t on good terms with any exes!! Like what does that say about a person?

Men and women don't really have a CliffNotes book to read through to get an idea of how they really are. You have barely scratched the surface and he's letting a little more of himself be seen to not push you away. I get that you're emotionally involved, but you are better off without him before it's too late. I know it's not all about religion, but culture and how men and women are raised. You really need to decide if Islam and this man is right for you. For me Religion is a tool and that tool is a great way to keep women down. It shouldn't be, but it is. You have the path you want, but really look to the future before you go down it.
