  4. I believe you in that regard, our metabolism is independent on our will. However there are two things that simply can't Not work.

    First, burning more calories than you intake. Regardless how much your body can try to sabotage your efforts, it can't beat calories math. Intensive swimming is extremy exhausting in terms of energy your body burns through. This done a few times a week could allow for smaller sacrifice in eating department.

    Second, muscle building process. It isn't something that will lower your weight as much, but it is because muscles are heavier than fat. I have never done it with intentions of losing weight, but my mother has. I can't verify what was telling me over the years but allegedly: Your body starts burning through fat reserves only after some time passes meaning longer periods of exercise are exponentially effective. Doing exercise in morning eithou having eaten anything first also forces your nody to use it's reserves which what you want to burn through. There is more to this of course, choosing what exercise you should be doing is also essential. However I am not really competent in this regard. Paying some proffesional to establish you working schedule simed at reducing fat is good idea.

    Obviously doing both these methods in the same time would be too much.
