  1. I think it's fascinating that this reply is the only one you've replied to.

I think you need to stop and really look at how long it took you to be comfortable and what it took. You didn't adapt right away. It took you how many months? She's had a few weeks to a) learn that your ex is apart of her life and will be for good if she remains with you, b) she's expected to have significantly adapted to this over the course of the holidays at the end of the year. Has she even been given time to consider if she WANTS to be in a relationship where the ex is going to play a continual role in your life? She obviously is or you wouldn't be so worried about her accepting this so quickly*.

You also don't seem to be reflecting about your own behavior towards your ex. I think you should. Your behavior needs to match the relationship with your ex you claim to have. If it doesn't, it's going to cause anxiety. You can't share in jokes with someone and then claim your relationship isn't personal. If you haven't thought through your future relationship with your ex? You are asking your gf to be much more emotionally well-adjusted than you are.

*If the ex isn't going to be a huge part of your life, then stand off the gas and give your gf all the time in the world. There's no need to rush. I'd bet $$$ you're not ready for a relationship and you're using your ex to push your new gf away.

  2. He should apologize along with long stem roses and a redo at a nice restaurant.

There should also be some takeaway lessons to learn here. Communication really IS key to strong healthy relationships. Stewing and festering does no good, not only ruins a good night or week and possibly wind up with egg on your face at the end of it all. He should have immediately asked about the phone and gauge her reaction to it.

  3. I think you are missing an opportunity because you are mixing things.

Whatever place you want to visit, you make it sound like there's a certain route to follow and when going back there's only the same route to go. Places are made of several different experiences all around the year. It matters not if you or others had been there before, there are multiple different ways and routes inside a place that makes everything new again.

You have a chance to go. Go. Then, if you have a chance to go again and visit other places, other restaurants, see other things well…. it's all new.

Sometimes we don't take the amazing opportunity the NOW is giving to us and later, it won't come again under any form.
