   You can co-parent successfully and do it amicably. There is nothing stopping this from happening.

   You can't be best of friends right now. There is lots between you that is stopping this from happening.

   To be “ok” with the fact that your STBXW is moving on requires you to remove yourself emotionally from her and her life. Removing her from your life doesn't have to be to the exclusion of an amicable divorce (where you both agree to the terms and conditions with equality of the split in assets and child custody as it's cornerstone, nor does it have to be at the exclusion of co-parenting.

   All it means is that you both agree to the divorce conditions and you only ever discuss the welfare and raising of your kids.

   The friendship part is one of those “things” that can't exist if there are still unrequited feelings between you (or in this case, you for her). That part of your emotional makeup has to go away before any friendship can arise in it's place.

   Simply put, you can't be her BFF whilst you are both in the process of moving on from this marriage.

   Sure, maybe in a few years time once the dust has settled and you both find new partners such a friendship may come about (or it may not), but at the moment it's too much to ask.

   But look, for anyone getting divorced, having these two under your belt – doing it amicably and being able to co-parent well – is as good a result as anyone can hope for.
