Thank you for sharing your story. i am so sorry that you lost your mom before her time. I can only imagine how devastating that must have been and my heart goes out to you.
I'm not too worried about my mom going back to binge eating, because her disorder was the result of unaddressed trauma, which has now been addressed (and she is continuing to work with a doctor and a therapist to stay physically and mentally healthy). Especially as she has lots of healthier coping mechanisms now like going hiking and various non-food-related hobbies.
I do hope my wife can arrive at a better relationship with food and her weight, for the sake of her own health, our child and our marriage.

She is using lies as means to deal with problems. This never goes well. If you want this o have even the slimmest chance of working out, her pattern of lying needs to be dug into and actively worked on. Telling you potentially upsetting things, that she feels are her fault is no doubt emotionally taxing for her, however she needs to understand without pushing her to regularly do it, her relationships (any relationship) will fall apart.

Set boundaries. Be firm. Show that you respect yourself, otherwise the person disrespecting you won't know how respect you either. Lying is a big red flag, and red flags don't mean “let's wait and see what happens.” Red flags are a stop sign, at least once you have life experience and self respect.
But yeah, if my partner lied to me and said he was sick so that he could go hang out with friends, I probably wouldn't want to be in the relationship anymore. That behavior gives me the ick.
