Nah his defensiveness is because when we spend too much time together we tend to bicker a bit or he gets frustrated because he needs a night off so he can bad his alone time to “reset”. The issue is we are very all or nothing and I don’t think it’s healthy.
But again: he might not be pushing back in place of being emotionally supportive, he may be pushing back because he strongly believes that his approach is the best path to supporting you.
Support can manifest by telling someone nude truths, giving them level-headed advice, and being a calming presence. Support can look like trying to put out a fire even when you’re asking them to hand you a can of lighter fluid.
I’m not defending your roommates, but I would take a step back and consider that perhaps your boyfriend is right and the best path forward (and the most likely approach to lead to a decently calm environment) is to tough it out until the lease is up.
