2. Thank you. What you said makes sense. I can see him using it as an escape. He says his body hurts on a daily basis and he has “bad kidney days” and what not. He definitely struggles with depression as well. He used to be on medication but stopped a while ago for some reason. Not sure if it was because of his kidneys or something else unrelated. I might possibly ask him to have a talk with me so we can figure out where to go from here. I do really like him a lot and I’m always super happy with him but I’m also always worrying about him becoming more and more sick and unwell because he doesn’t put his health above anything else. This is tough.

7. I'm in favor of just telling him to piss off. This is what you're doing and if he can't handle it, he can piss off. It's been a tradition longer than you've been a couple. The manipulation using the kid is where I'd draw the line tho. Fuck that noise.

   I'd only suggest compromising on time once he can go 2-3 months without crawling up your ass about this. What about once or twice a year doing it as a family unit?
