So I totally get your perspective. I see both sides here. Your girlfriend feels like since the porn actors are real people, than that’s more personal than her books. You feel like like the books do include a real person, the author. But you aren’t worried about her being turned on by the author, you are worried about her being turned on by the fictional men.
This can be argued about around and around in circles. But I think the real question is, is she using it like porn? As in is she using it to get off and then putting it away until the next time she wants to get off? If she is using it to get off than your points are very valid.
For the record I used to read those books all the time, they are a fun read in the same way that watching trashy tv or hallmark Christmas movies is fun. It’s a fun romance but also safe because you know that no matter what the two will get together at the end and probably get married. It definitely is a different type of reading than say the DaVinci Code. And when I was reading those books I would often even skim through the sex scenes (just enough to make sure there weren’t any necessary plot details) to get back to the story.
And yeah, the guys in those books are all those crazy things that you said, but that doesn’t mean that that is what your gf wants (I know I don’t want a huge muscular guy, they aren’t comfortable to snuggle with.) You don’t need to be any more concerned with her falling in love with those guys than you are about her falling in love with Captain America or Thor.
