That stigma exists for a reason. You shouldn't tell your friends that you're a furry, unless it's extremely pertinent to hanging out with them, like if you are going to a convention with them or something and want to warn them ahead of time.
Hobby or not, it's still a kink. Don't tell your friends about your kink hobbies. It's fine to have them, but there is absolutely no reason why your friends need to know about you being a furry. I'd rip on my bros if they pulled something like that too. Because it's ridiculous and there is a healthy amount of shame that people should have regarding certain hobbies. Being a furry is absolutely one of those hobbies. Sometimes a healthy amount of shame is a good thing for society.

Everyone wants to shut you up but you're right. Atatiana Jefferson was a famous case of this happening. A Washington Post article reported that in 178 cases from 2019 to 2021, police responding to mental health calls, wellness checks, or reported suicide threats killed the individuals they were called to assist. Obviously death is the most extreme instance, but absolutely police harass and assault mentally ill people, throw them in handcuffs as if they are criminals, etc. This is true for many people, and especially when they are Black. It even happened to a former friend of mine.
In general, I don't think this girl is going to kill herself regardless; she's threatening suicide for manipulation purposes. But it is valuable to note that calling the police on someone having a mental health crisis is not always the safest option, and I really hate that your comment was dismissed with such confidence.
