I used to date a guy exactly like this. He was so smug and cocky, always wanted to start arguments to show off his intellect and debate skills. Even when the other people didn't want to discuss it or got upset, he'd keep pushing and pushing. I don't date him anymore.
You need to let it go. If he found out it was you, all hell is going to break loose. What has he done that made you not trust him? If it’s your insecurities that are causing this, you need to work on that, not trying to find faults in him.
