You're probably going to upset someone in this situation. IMO, your wife should be the one in this position since she's instilling demands on a dynamic that's frankly none of her business, if it isn't problematic towards your kids with the ex and your kids with her (which, it doesn't sound like it has). I would try to tell her as nicely as possible that the reality is that the ex is going to be involved in your kids lives, and therefore your life, for rest of your lives and that you have that dynamic with your ex for the sake of your kids. If she can't accept that, she'll have to figure out what she wants to do on her own.
