Would you not have been devastated to lose all your saves, even if it was “only” on 5 games (those 5 games may still have taken hundreds of hours)?
I absolutely would've been devastated by this — heck, I misplaced/lost so many of my Gameboy games as a kid, and am still low-key saddened over the loss of those save files.
Older game systems sadly have that flaw of localized save files, but (particularly with the switch) modern systems usually have the save data on the device itself, an SD, or linked to your account. (See: Nintendo ID linked files, so one game cartridge is used for multiple users)
I’ve been rearranging my room furniture at least once a year since I was young. I’d barricade the door (so my parents couldn’t come in and stop me) and move things around – took all day because I’d also clean behind things and that type of thing.
Then when it was finished, my parents could come in and say whatever, but do nothing about it! My mum didn’t really understand why I needed to have things a bit different sometimes.
So when I became an adult and got my own place, I was doing it all on my own, just like when I was young.
I only ever needed help with the heavy couch, but when you don’t have a husband, you can just ask your father or cook dinner or lunch for a male friend, and he can help. But everything else, I’ve always done on my own. ?

I am 32, my step dad came into my life when I was 12, and I have always called him by his name. But, around when I was 18 on a Fathers Day I told him that even though I call him by his name, he has always been a dad to me. My father has always been present in my life, and I am a total daddys girl, but my step dad is amazing and brought a lot of stability to the other 50% of my life. Its funny you mention a math test, cause one of my fondest memories of my step dad was him taking the effort to teach my adhd ass math when it was my least favorite subject. I loved basketball, so he made it a game. I had to answer a question right, make a shot and then I got one an m&m lol. Also, the first time we celebrated my birthday he told me happy birthday the day AFTER since he had thought my mom said the day after – it turned into a long running 20+ years of him telling me happy birthday the day after my birthday as his dorky step dad joke.
