The pregnancy calendar begins with the first day of your last period. This means that Week 1 of pregnancy, the woman is on her period. Conceptions doesn't actually happen until week two or later (I wish someone had explained that to me when I was pregnante the first time). Sometimes estimations are wrong if the woman has a cycle that is longer or shorter than average, so she might not conceive until week 4.
Even so, 17 weeks ago is a bit of a stretch for week 10 of pregnancy, so a paternity test is definitely in order.
