It's terrifying how quickly people like that change when they actually face consequences. My friend actually did call the cops on more than 1 occasion, and ex went from threatening herself, him, his family, and throwing shit around the house to completely calm when the cops showed up. And because she was in control when they were there, they couldn't do anything. The last time she threatened suicide to him he told her he will either call an ambulance or call a cab to take her to the hospital. But apparently that was not allowed. She was in a “mental health crisis” and the only acceptable course of action was for him to come home and take her back.
People are understanding these days especially if its an abusive relationship. Don't think about others. Save urself. Don't get back with him unless you like getting beaten up.

why are you watching her stepson? Whose kid is that, where are his actual parents? Who is letting their kid's stepmom's ex BF watch their kid almost every day? Your ex was married to some guy with a kid prior to meeting you (at age 19?) and now has the kid 5 days a week but has outsourced his care to you? This is bananas.
It is nice of you to let her stay in your apartment but clearly it is bad for your current social life to be living with your ex GF. It is valid for a person to not want a stranger in their home if the kid lives there too, but he doesn't on-line with you, does he?
The main issue here is this should not be her home anymore. Given she has stayed past the point when a reasonable person would continue living there PLUS she isn't even paying rent, she doesn't have a leg to stand on IMO. If she's home when the guy comes over would she be more or less uncomfortable about it?
