1. I personally wouldn’t tell him you went through his phone… I wouldn’t even make any impulsive decisions right now. Unless you knew exactly how to leave his phone like it was untouched, and only read opened messages, he might already speculate you did? So what I would do is wait a few days, knowing this your demeanor with him may change, but when you’re ready to finally break it off and it’s marinated, you can say “I feel like I have been honest and trusting with you since we’ve been together and exclusive, and I just feel like there are things you may be hiding from me and aren’t open about. And if there is someone else you’re pursuing you need to let me know so I no longer keep wasting my time.” See if this elicits any truth. If he’s confused just say it’s a feeling or things that you would know otherwise but not from just checking his phone. And don’t make the questions too tailored to that because checking someone’s phone is the most invasive you can get and by doing that, you’ve betrayed his trust as he’s betrayed yours.

   In other words, there’s nothing he can say to defend himself from what you’ve found out, so just prepare yourself to break up, but again, I would do so in a way that’s more like you came up with this because of an off feeling
