It sounds like this weekend was some kind of culmination of events for you, but I still don't get what this has to do with your boyfriend's gaming. It doesn't even seem to be all on him.
You cancelled on him Friday for a good reason, and then you got upset that he wouldn't be available Sunday because he already had plans with his friend. He offered to cancel those plans for the sake of seeing you, but you told him no, and then you instead freely offered to cancel your own plans Monday without him even asking for that.
Why didn't you just take him up on his offer? Why did you offer changing your own plans if you didn't actually want to? You're literally being upset with your boyfriend for accepting something you volunteered freely…
In fact, most family gatherings NEVER bring up politics or religion unless an outsider brings it up. We tend to find other things to talk about because we know we aren't all going to fully agree with each other, so it's pointless to get into fights about it
I will say, though, one person in my family kinda got blacklisted to some extent when they were fighting with me about why they were not vaccinated, at a time when they were visiting my sick grandmother….that didn't sit well with me, and my wife snatched the phone from me and went off on him for it….also not really the right response, but I have to agree that we both felt the same way in that moment.
No a lot of our family get togethers are talking about travel stuff, sports things, past life events….stuff that really isn't meant to be controversial
I get that. But when my child needed emergency surgery, my mom could help. I couldn’t take time off work. Even just having someone in case of emergency is crucial. It’s just hard to find that as a single mom
