It's only been 4 months and it's very likely this scared him off / pushed him away and he was too immature to handle it properly. I don't think it's worth salvaging simply bc I think you deserve better than this guy. While this is a very serious thing to experience, it makes or break a relationship bc it tells you (likely) how that person will be in the future. He didn't prioritize you, and I think he got scared off and didn't want to deal with it. He needs to do some growing up and I don't think it'll be a healthy relationship if you continue to stay with him
