I have seen him send the money / he tells me when he sends it. I keep telling him to get a lawyer and go to court to get a custody agreement, but that's a whole other battle. The grandparents took him in at the time as the mom couldn't afford to care for him on her own, and my boyfriend had to move out of state to live with his family until he could find a place, and they didn't want the child moving out of state lines.

I mean yes but he should also expect that by doing this it is very likely she will end things now (which I think she should). They've had long enough to establish feelings (or not) for each other so if he's willing to jeopardise that by going on a date then doubt he feels much for her romantically.
I know women do stuff like that to watch out for friends, but there comes a time when your own safety should come first. Maybe nothing happened, but she isn't really acting like someone I would trust, especially if she regularly hangs out with shady friends.
