You are both young enough to be idiots. Also young enough to find someone else. It probably isn't worth worrying about too much. Just go with your gut and avoid having a baby for a few years. It will seem silly to have worried about it when you are fifty.

That's what I grew up with too. My dad would always butt slap my mom at home, whenever he passes by her in the kitchen or laundry, so I was kinda conditioned to think it's normal at home.
