My opinion is that stuff like threesomes – or any type of adding a person to a relationship, like poly, open relationships, etc, ALL of it – should only happen if both partners are enthusiastic about it and honestly want it. I, for example, am not into threesomes, so I would not do it to “give it a shot” bc to me it's too serious of a thing to just “give it a shot”. You either want to, or don't really want to, and if you don't really want to, don't. That's my input, at least.
Everyone is different, of course, and to some people sex is less “serious”/ emotionally charged and they probably can do stuff like that just to see how it's like/give it a try. But some people just can't.
Interesting. Would you mind briefly describing the societal issues?
