First, you have to know this subreddit isn’t going to get you the response you’re looking for.
And no, you’re not his friend because you think that him being willing to end it over this is a “dumb reason.” His wedding is important to him and you are choosing not to support it.
I get why more than most in this sub. I’m gay with deeply religious (J) family and I’ve done a lot of work to get their side, but that has involved swallowing a lot of hurt. That’s for family, so whatever, but a friend? Nah, you’re just revealing that you don’t think his marriage is real or important.
The fact that you think it’s dumb that he’d take this seriously means you just weren’t as good friends as you thought. Which surely shouldn’t shock you? You’re on here saying it’s dumb when his take is “this dude I thought was my friend refused to attend my wedding”.
For the record, my parents wouldn’t attend my wedding. They told me that when I was a teenager, mid a speech where they thought they were being accepting lol.
