Actually I think this very accurately describes a traumatic response. He could not vocalize a reason because he was too panicked/dissociated/etc to really understand what was happening.

Now, lets be honest. In prison, it is not a good idea to snitch, rat or inform on others. But…..we all know its being done. Worked over nine years in max lock down. Everyone talked about everyone else’s business and this was a men’s facility. I would make my rounds and would know who passed contraband, who was cheeking meds, who owed big debts and who was holding razors. Now we also know its important to know what to do with this information and not create a situation ie be a secret keeper for the greater good of the block. I made sure people were safe and encouraged compliance. The dangerous information, I passed along and owned it. Never had a problem because I wasnt malicious and didnt create charges for people. (I through contraband away and had problem staff removed from my blocks)
