Ok. It sounded from your post that the trip was “sort of for her birthday.” It’s interesting that in clarifying, though, you just had to bring up that she “almost” forgot your birthday. It seems like you view the relationship as transactional and engage in tit-for-tat arguments.

Doesn't seem too weird to me. If he's expecting that he will need to move back to his parents or needs their support in some sort of financial way, tell them ASAP doesn't seem odd. He already has a lawyer so if the lawyer oks it, no problem there.
