A lot of whats mentioned in this tread is similar to my thinking. And note the only child he talked to would have been 22 at the time and possibly done post-secondary education.
Something I've not seen mentioned yet, is that IF the children are not biological his, it would most likely have an effect on the divorce. It could help speed up the process and have multiple decisions be in his favour ( alimony comes to mind).
