I think it's totally fine to do that if that's part of your “getting over someone” ritual, but it's certainly not a necessary part of it.
Some of it probably depends on how serious the relationship was. For me, I don't know if I ever had any photos of my short-lived ex but going on a campaign to delete all traces of him would have felt like I was giving him too much power when I could just… not go out of my way to look at those photos. Whereas if God forbid my fiance and I broke up now I might feel more compelled to remove things that remind me of him because it would be a way bigger deal and I'd have much stronger feelings about it.
You can decide to leave with the person you cheated with, but you can't choose if you're allowed to stay with your fiance. That choice is hers. Tell her now before this gets any worse. You're going to traumatize her; it's bad enough without you dragging it on. If she figures it out on her own it'll be worse.
