Yep, what he did was pretty shitty but you also seem to be missing the part where she didn't discuss this with her husband at all before accepting the job. She even said she needed time to think about it and not once in her “research time” did it cross her mind to talk to her husband about this.
She did this with zero respect for her husband and he acted with an equal (or in my opinion slightly worse) amount of respect for her.
