  1. Has she considered going to the doctor? She needs to try harder not take the easy way out. Don’t feel forced to do an open relationship also to note some open relationships ruin relationships. You need to talk to her about options and that an open relationship isn’t one

  2. You are brave to have lived this. You have to love yourself enough to leave. It will be hard but you can find friends and other supports. Hey, I was in my late 20's when I started finding lifetime friends through work and other extracurricular activities.

Please don't think about those things, your #1 priority should be safety. Everything else will happen for you in due time. Focus on the here and now.

If you leave, we can't predict the future, which leaves room for hope. But If you stay, we can predict the future, which includes continued physical and psychological abuse from both your husband and his mother.

  3. People say a lot of things about parenting and kids before they know the reality “if I were a parent I’d never let me kids do…” he doesn’t know anything at this point and probably hasn’t thought much about it yet. I wouldn’t worry about it. It’s more about aligning parenting philosophies as you start getting closer to that point.

  4. Post a graduation update on your graduation day to this subreddit and we'll celebrate it with you

  5. No. Normally I would absolutely tell his wife, but don't F with a cop. They will destroy your life. You could try anonymously, but I wouldn't risk it. Just end it and move on.

  6. There is 5 years difference.

    You're adults.

    You're mid 20's.

    Nothing to even worry about.

    The age gap is nothing.

  7. Let’s give this guy the benefit of the doubt here. No one would have concerns for the SO’s mental health and well-being if they were just being social and making friends on-line. When people are in a psychosis, they can go insane on social media. Not just regular socialising, but adding strangers or inappropriate acquaintances like their bosses partner, or the ex husband of their best friends sister etc. then they post about their delusions of grandeur where they make little sense and that type of behaviour can be really damaging to relationships and reputations.

When someone you love is going through a psychosis it can be very difficult to reason with them. They can also be really good at giving you assurance that everything is okay, even when it’s not and it makes you feel like you’re going crazy. Having someone to talk to can be reassuring and helps you trust your own judgement that something is deeply wrong.

I’m not saying that OP handled things the right way, but let’s also give him the benefit of the doubt that his wife wasn’t just being a bit more active on Facebook than normal.
