I just had another friend tell me a similar thing. But phrasing it more like “ Hey I haven’t heard from you in a while, but I had a lot of fun on Monday and would like to see you again. If you don’t respond, I’ll assume you’re not interested, and that’s totally fine.”

Just taking a guess… there are unfortunately a lot of people who have very low self esteem and will put up with very poor treatment from a SO. Some of those people are men.
I have a family member who’s married to a man who’s an alcoholic and treats her very poorly and wastes all their money on stupid shit (Their salaries are roughly equal but he spends the vast majority of the money). But she’s always had self esteem issues and unfortunately has let him and her previous SOs treat her poorly.
Back to talking about OP, another (less likely) reason is that the only redeeming quality of this relationship is that the sex is really, really good. There are plenty of people who won’t leave a toxic relationship because of that, although I can’t imagine enjoying sex with a woman who acts so much like a child.
