She didn't know it was a simulation, though. OP was hurting her, both physically and emotionally. He admits to seeing fear and tears in her eyes as she tried to get away from him and he continued to hold her down.
The road to hell is paved with good intentions and frankly I don't think his intentions were good. His girlfriend was confident and self reliant. OP clearly had a problem with that. She wouldn't let him be her white knight to escort her home, so he decided to abuse her to “teach her a lesson” aka that she isn't safe around men like him. It's incredibly malicious because by design he wanted to shake her up, make her fearful, so that she would rely on him more and herself less. He abused her and those supposedly good intentions of his were every bit as sinister as the stranger on the corner who mugs women walking alone at night.
They do it for the same reason everyone else does. She wants to know how many different portions of meat they can get from you. Eyeballing a 30lb shank and trying to picture how long to roast that in the oven, takes time. Then you have to figure out where to store the other cuts off a person's body.
