It’s already been decided that this is the Christmas that determines future Christmases. With the advice from here I plan on letting my dad know that if hubby is not invited, there won’t be another Christmas, birthday or any other family gathering.
I feel like this is the kind of person who would use a baby as a trap to keep her with him. Like, it's not like he's going to have to deal with the baby, he won't get pregnant, he won't change diapers, he won't help with keeping up with the home. He gets a bangmaid that's tired to him through the child.
Imagine having children with this guy. If you’re even considering that path, don’t do it. Even if he miraculously starts pitching in now, he will stop again when he thinks you’re trapped by a kid. You deserve waaay better…
Get on the waiting list now. You will have 6 months to look for a new job and whichever comes first you go with your kids.
Keep your head down and try to start disengaging. Attending Al-anon (since his mom is a drunk) is not a bad way to learn some skills for living with an active alcoholic, plus if you put in some time people there do help each other out- with jobs, rentals, resources etc. At the very least you can go to a meeting and escape the house for a bit.
My plan is to recommend professional help, I just don’t know how to approach it where she wont just get upset, bury everything and never solve it. I feel don’t really want to point out or prod her for anything as I know that wont solve the problem and fixing this is a professionals job. Thank you for your response.
