We can’t assume that they didn’t though. OP points out he’s mad that she won’t take care of his dog while she takes care of hers which she bought because she could handle it. The situation changed now that she has work plus the baby now. So she did the responsible thing an rehomed the dog.
OP points out that she ‘knew’ they were a package deal, which yes, that is a choice that she made to have. BUT given what she said about her caring for hers and his for his, I think they possibly did have this discussion and that was the end result of it: he cares and takes responsibility for his own pet.
Now the circumstances have changed (the baby). Again, we just have one POV but from what OP adds into the comments the picture he paints is this. His wife works from home but can’t concentrate well because his kenneled dog wants to be let out and entertained because it knows someone is home. It has only about .5 to 1 hour of play in the morning, so is bored for a minimum of 8 hours straight in a small space. So understandably it’s whining even if it’s just laying there…like its a kennel, he can’t really be prancing about on camera for OP. He points out in his comments that not only is this high energy dog not getting enough stimulation and free roam, but it’s badly trained to the point you have this massive dog flinging its body around in excitement and openly licking little children’s faces without prompting. As a pregnant person, that’s already hard to deal with thanks to limiting mobility, illness and pain that comes with pregnancy.
But a dog that can’t control itself and goes after kids to lick their face? Yeah thats a hazard! Like it can make that baby sick or physically get harmed!

Really crappy boyfriend aside (why accept being treated like that?) it sounds like you have a really crappy friend too. Personally I would leave them both and stop trying to keep relationship with people who treat you like they both do.
